Stephen Kistler (d. 1880) was a tanner from Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, who moved to Tannersville, Monroe County, Pennsylvania. His son Charles E. Kistler (b. 1830) entered the family busienss and later purchased his own tannery in Fennersville (now Sciota), Monroe County, which as of 1878 was called the Hamilton Tannery.  The collection includes a Stephen Kistler & Son Fennersville tannery account book/letter book, 1866-1885; a Charles E. Kistler Fennersville tannery day book, 1867-1873; and two Hamilton Tannery day books, 1878-1891.
